Watt's Up Meter - DC Inline2008-05-01
Great product for small renwable energy
This product works as advertised. The meter measures (and counts) power used or in my case "sent to the batteries" to keep track of the charging from solar panels or from wind (turbine). I would like a longer delay between "max" values displayed (0.4 second is a little fast). I would also like to see a backlight (LED) in a deluxe model. I am ordering the Doc Wattsun because the max Watt hours only goes to 6.554 Kilo Watt (I turn the meter over every 2 days). But I will use this on a small portable solar electric system to "orient" the panel for max amps. The meter for the charge controller costs $42 more then this product and only counts amp hours. The only hassle with the "Watts up" is the connector for adding a battery, no link at powerwerx web site and no connector found at web site (even though the description mentions buying it with the meter). I did realize that I did not need it - if my solar energy system went down to 4 volts then it is dead. I give the Watts up meter 4 out of 5 stars, discounting the "not found" Fatuba? connector (automotive connectors are out there or just give me 3 small wires and save money on the male connector) (yeah, I tried digikey - no conn.).

Very Handy Little Device
I've used this device numerous times to measure voltage, current and especially cumulative consumption on various batteries and radios. I've double-checked it using some pretty sophisticated meters and a computerized analyzer, and it's pretty accurate. Certainly good enough for ham radio applications. The Powerpole connectors are just icing on the cake. Highly recommended!

Just what I needed!
Very elegant unit, easy to use and handy size! Works 100% as expected, right out of the box. The cables could have been a bit longer, that's the only I could comment. I will use this mostly to check our glider-aeroplanes! 73 de LA4YS / Glider pilot.

Very useful device!
This does the job of at least two instruments at once. Great for monitoring battery voltage in mobile applications. We use it at work to measure the real world power consumption of wireless networking equipment over a 24 hour period using the amp-hour and watt-hour functions. Also has min/max functions. Allows long term power monitoring of equipment, freeing up your DMM for circuit analysis. Worth every penny!

Great little meter, many uses
I purchasaed one of these to monitor the 12 volt DC output of my pedal generator. It's perfect! I use the Watts display to keep track of how much power I have generated, since Amp-Hours reflects different watts-hours depending on voltage. I love the automated display updates. I can tell at a glance how much power I am generating, in watts, and also volts and amps. When I sprint the peak readings are also excellent! This meter has helped me fine-tune the pedal generator and compare the efficiency of different motor/generators. It performs as stated. The only oddness is that occasionally when I start generating electricity, it needs to be restarted (rare) by stopping and then starting again. I do not use the external battery function (yet).
