This tool is so handy for working on DC powered equipment. I used it for confirming the DC power requirements for remote radio alarm units that I designed and built. It is especially nice for calculating power requirements. After estimatiing using the manufacture's specifications, the Doc Wattson Meter gives you real world DC power information. It is great for sizing power supplies, solar panel arrays and battery backup systems. Every DC electrical mechanic should have on their bench and in their tool bag. The fact that they are pre-connectorized with Anderson Power Pole connectors is a great bonus.

This little meter is a great addition to anyone's tool box. Depending on which direction you connect it you can either read the charge running into or out of your battery or source. I used the Doc Wattson Meter to measure loads drawn by my amateur radio and portable freezer allowing me to correctly size the cables and battery. Connected between a recharger and the battery it lets me measure the charge state of the battery.
