These work only when mating two pair of powerpoles; they has no functionality for a single pair. Make sure that you first lock at least one pair of powerpoles side-to-side with their built-in tongue-in-groove features. Then the retention clip is held reasonably well by the friction fitting to the cylinder created between the sides of the coupled powerpoles. The clip will then retain the other pair as well. If used in an environment with much vibration, then employ the blok-lok instead, as the spring-tensioned arms on the blok-lok wrap around the fourth side of the two pairs of powerpoles.
