Before purchasing I shopped all around for something I could just build myself. You may well find that finding a female utlity socket at the quality and level of simplicity of this product is challenging at best. For the price, buy this one. By the time you add your own power pole ends, you will only have save a few bucks and you may end up with something that looks only half as good.
